Here's a little photoshop tutorial for a very simple way to correct overexposure. Nothing fancy here, just the basics.

First, open the overexposed image.

Now look at the Layers pallete,
click and drag the Background layer thumbnail over the "New Layer" button and release the mouse button.
This will create a duplicate of the background.

Next,
change the blend mode to Multiply.

And your image will appear darker.

You can repeat the step above until you are satisfied.
You can adjust the opacity of the top layer to get a better result.
